The Healing Touch: Exploring Jack Cody's Journey from Educator to Chiropractor
Jack Cody, hailing from Greeley, Colorado, had a notable career as a chiropractor after studying at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. Throughout his tenure in this field, Jack was renowned for his ability to alleviate various conditions ranging from spinal misalignments to more complex traumas, aiming to improve his patient's quality of life through pain reduction.
Inspired by the Outdoors at an Early Age
Beyond his professional expertise, he was also deeply connected to his family and had a profound love for nature and photography.
Born on August 8, 1947, in Sterling, Colorado, Jack was the only child of Jerry and Ruth Cody. His childhood was rich with experiences shared with his parents, often involving outdoor activities that nurtured his love for nature. From an early age, he enjoyed his mother's homemade cinnamon knots. He cherished the drives and walks with his father through scenic landscapes, which played a crucial role in developing his lifelong passion for the outdoors.
A Passion for Learning
His educational journey began after he graduated from high school and attended Northeastern Junior College, earning his degree in 1967. He further pursued his education at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, graduating in 1969 with a Bachelor's Degree in Education with a focus on Special Education. He continued his studies in the Master's Program at the same university, during which he met his wife from Iran. The couple briefly moved to Iran, where Jack taught English and indulged his passion for photography by documenting their life there.
Upon returning to Colorado, Jack completed his Master's Degree in Special Education in 1978 and soon welcomed his first child, a daughter.
A Career Change and Back to School
After a decade of teaching and working towards a doctorate in Special Education Administration, Jack felt the need for a change. In 1983, he applied and was accepted to the Palmer College of Chiropractic. This decision took him and his family to Iowa, marking the start of a significant new chapter in his life. By 1986, he had completed his doctorate, focusing his thesis on integrating his love for photography with chiropractic studies under the title "Sense of Sight through a Photograph."
Following graduation, he returned to Colorado, set up his chiropractic practice in Greeley, and continued to indulge his passion for capturing the natural world through his lens.
The "Sense of Sight through a Photograph"
His deep appreciation for photography was particularly evident in his nature and wildlife subjects. He often discussed the nuances of lighting in photography, emphasizing that softer light conditions were ideal for capturing the delicate beauty of flowers and the essence of personalities in portraits. His thoughtful approach allowed him to share the beauty he saw with others through his compelling photographic stories.
A Love of Family, A Devoted Grandfather
His family life was filled with outdoor activities like camping, hunting, and fishing, especially cherished times spent with his five grandchildren. He passed on his love for nature and photography to them, even gifting cameras during one Christmas, which brought him immense joy and laughter.
Jack Cody passed away on October 20, 2021, but his legacy continues through his scenic photographs and the rich memories he created for his family and all who knew him. His dedicated website, "The Sense of Sight through a Photograph," remains a testament to his life's passions, featuring collections from various landscapes and portraits he captured over the years.
